Barrel Sauna FAQ's
Why apply an Exterior Finish?
An Exterior Finish will preserve the natural appearance of your Barrel Sauna for years to come. Sisu Saunas recommends that the Exterior Finish be applied prior to shipping, to prevent any stain damage to the wood that may occur during delivery. A wide range of Exterior Finish tones to match your surroundings are available.
How often will an Exterior Finish need to be applied?
The Exterior Finish’s manufacturer suggestions are to re-apply the finish every 5 to 7 years depending on the location and usage of the sauna.
What is Interior Sauna Seal?
Interior Sauna Seal is a odorless and colorless application that helps prevent bacteria and dirt build up. Sauna seal is formulated to cover approximately 80% of the woods surface which allows the moisture to escape and the cedar aroma to be enjoyed. Sealing the interior of your Barrel Sauna will help preserve the beauty and extend the longevity of your sauna. Sauna Sealing also eases in the cleansing up-keep of your Barrel Sauna. Sisu Saunas highly recommends that Sauna Seal be applied in any commercial sauna use application.
How often will the interior of my Barrel Sauna need to be sealed?
The Sauna Seal manufacturer recommends that you apply Sauna Seal every 15 years depending on usage.
What are Base Kits?
Each Barrel Sauna is placed on a set of permanently attached cedar base cradles which prevent the Barrel Sauna from rolling.
A Stationary Base Kit consists of green treated 4" x 4" material attached to the underside of each base cradle. This attachment will help to prevent any wicking or staining damage to the cedar base cradles. Sisu Saunas strongly recommends that a Stationary Base kit be installed if your Barrel Sauna will be located directly on the ground.
A Portable Base Kit consists of, four, 4" x 4" green treated material running parallel to the sauna and attached to the cedar base cradles. This attachment creates a dray for the ease of relocating. Sisu Saunas recommends a Portable Base Kit be installed if you need the Barrel Sauna to remain as a non-permanent structure or to ease in the event of relocating and transporting.
